How to Find Good Information
Look for sources that are balanced, show where the data came from, and show who created/wrote the information. Make sure you have a mixture of background information, (from encyclopedias or books), current research and news (from journals, magazines or newspapers), and reliable data from authoritative sources.
The Seven Steps of the Research Process, from Cornell University, outlines a simple and effective strategy for finding information for a research project and documenting the sources.
